This board is for author-driven collaborative storytelling (i.e., "Quests"). In a quest there is a single author who controls the plot of the story and who drives the creative process. They can choose to take suggestions from other posters, or not, at their sole discretion. Quests can be text-based, image-based, or a combination of the two. Drawfaggotry is strongly encouraged!

To facilitate the author-driven nature of quests, /qst/ differs significantly from other boards in that the OP of a thread is considered the quest's author, and has some basic text formatting abilities: [b], [i], and color tags [red], [green], and [blue]. Therefore, only those people willing to put in the effort to be a quest author should post threads. If you do not intend to run a collaborative story, do not post a thread here! This includes meta-threads.

Dice rolling follows /tg/'s format (e.g., "dice+2d6" without the quotes in the options field rolls 2d6).
>>
Current board settings:

Anyone can post images.
Anyone can use painter.
Anyone can use dice & spoilers.
Only OP can use text formatting.

Megan was trembling in fear, as she and her three guardsmen friends, Flora, Daniel and Gregor entered the large, dimly lit hallway. The four were noticeably injured and anxious, with Flora being carried by Daniel. "G-Guys, I-I can't do this... I-I don't wanna t-tell her we failed. I-I know s-she'll hurt us if we tell her the bad news." Megan said, Gregor sighing in defeat. "We agreed to just tell her the truth. I'm sure that, if we're just honest, she might show some mercy. We just... need to keep calm, okay? Besides, if you run from her, you'll be as good as dead anyway..." Daniel started sobbing already, shaking his head and clearly panicking. "W-Why did have to happen to me... I-I just wanted to do a good job... w-why me..." The four would soon make their way to what used to be a containment chamber, the glass wall leading up to it having been destroyed. Aside from the destruction, the place was eerily clean and well maintained, with electricity allowing the place to be properly illuminated.

And in the remnants of the chamber, upon a large golden throne, sat their queen. Beside the queen sat many anxious guardsmen and a few scientist, some crouching whilst others were clearly on guard. Their queen had her legs crossed, her eyes looking down at the four soldiers who approached anxiously. She kept quiet, as the four would immediately bow in fear. "Y-Your majesty, w-we have failed t-to... c-convince the s-survivors n-near the f-factory of your rule. T-They f-fought back... a-and as you c-can already s-see, we... w-we unfortunately lost a m-man." The queen scoffed, hardly seeming to care as she leaned back a little. "I am already well aware of your co-workers failure. He was shot in the leg and taken in by those non-believers. Of course, I made sure he did not... betray me and my mission." The four guardsmen all looked terrified, knowing what that entailed.

Though soon after, Daniel broke down in front of her, much to the panic of the guardsmen. "P-Please, y-your majesty, h-have mercy! W-We're sorry for f-failing you! W-We will do better, we promise! Please j-just-" The queen would stand up with a soft stomp, before approaching Daniel and grabbing him by the neck. "Did I allow you to speak?" Daniel kept quiet, trembling in fear as the queen would tighten her grip on his neck. "I was going to pardon you, yet you speak out of turn and show your cowardice." She jabbed her fingernails into his flesh, before he moved his hands to her arms to try and get her to stop. Daniel started screaming in agony, the rest of his men looking down or away. Daniel's screams soon turned to gurgles, before a strange fleshy matter would wrap around the queens fingers, seeping into her flesh. She let go of Daniel, who fell to the ground and covered his neck with his hands as his breath sounded raspy and broken. He tried speaking, but no voice came out as he started letting out tears.

>>Turn it off and turn it back on some time later. Maybe Annie would be back then and you could listen to some actually good songs and news.
No. Someone suddenly turned up and started to do some weird ASRM shit right when that queen talk started coming up... might suspicious I say. Perhaps I'm being a wee bit paranoid but I rather not risk it. Turn it down.
>>
>>5988669
This really doesn't seem like TO-22 since she's not an Elbrus work, makes actual music and seems to mentally have a full deck of cards while being too nice for this.
>>
>Turn it off and turn it back on sometime later. Maybe Annie would be back then and you could listen to some actually good songs and news.
Given that your men were disgusted and less than pleased with the audio, you decided to do the safe option for the time being and stop listening. You told Derek to shut it off, which he thankfully did right away. You told your men that you didn't just want to stop listening due to the expected pervy shit, but because you knew there was something suspicious about it. You had just learnt about a queen who could enamour anyone she was near, so this was quite a bad thing. Besides, it was clear this was an Elbrus subject, which you knew you couldn't trust at all. With that, the place soon fell silent again, Anofelis once again speaking up. "What's ay ess um are?" To this, Laura said the smartest thing for the time being. "Something Elbrus related, so let's just forget about it." And with that, Anofelis stopped asking questions about the thot subject.

You'd keep heading forward for the time being, the discussion about the ASMR subject continuing somewhat. "I do worry what happened to Annie. What if she's in trouble?" Lydia at one point said, to which Lars scoffed. "She managed to trick some of our forces into being killed and has access to a ton of government files, right? I am quite sure that she would find a way out of trouble." Artyom would also give his opinion, sounding a bit more amused. "I wonder if it was something she did intentionally. It could be some sort of new ploy. That, or there's some sort of hidden message in it." However, Anon would shake his head and seemingly disagree. "I wonder how far Annie would go with her secret messages, and if she'd be willing to do something this fucking disgusting for the entire world to hear." Mike would give a rather perplexed response. "I mean, it's gross but... I really wonder how dangerous listening to it would be?"

Before anyone could tell Mike that figuring that out was probably not worth it, Mike would turn to Derek with a pretty decent suggestion. "Derek, can you check any and all chats and news sources for other death squad soldiers? If there are people somehow being affected in any way by this audio, I can imagine there being plenty of announcements being spread around rather quickly." Derek nodded and would start looking through the tablet. Though soon after, you'd reach the first cross in the road. There was a hallway which would head south, the drone flying close-by as Lydia had kept it guarding this first split in the path. "If we go right here, we might encounter Viridian again. Though I imagine we'll keep heading forward to find that office space." You nodded, still wanting to find the office first and foremost. It was probably not too far from here at this point. And after ten minutes of walking and continuing to have some casual chats, you could see another some deactivated turrets guarding a large doorway.
>>
Knowing you were almost there, Mike would ask for an update from Derek regarding news about the subject. "There are some people talking about the audio. And so far, I don't think anyone has been harmed by the audio. Well, there are plenty of people who are voicing their disgust and hatred. Oh, and a couple of comments sarcastically praising the new host. The government has given any response, so I think there is no real harm to listening in currently. Of course, it still is pretty disgusting." That last sentiment was something the rest of your men also agreed with. None of them wanted to hear more of the Elbrus subject doing perverse shit on the radio. Harmless or not, the last thing you wanted to hear was a disgusting moan from some subject 'indulging' in the attention.

Regardless, you'd soon reach the large doorway, passing the gun turrets before finding yourself in a far more modest office space. It wasn't like the large offices from before, where there were dozens upon dozens of rooms crammed into one. This one seemed far simpler, consisting of just one large hallway with a few side-rooms. Most of these rooms looked to be space for guardsmen, based on all the lockers and weapon storage spaces. Of the few rooms there, only a couple were really focused on subject creation, with there being two large and empty containment chambers nearby. The one thing that did strike you as worrisome was a single testing chamber, which looked more like a combat zone given the amount of meticulously placed cover and gunner positions. Whatever subjects were tested there weren't being tested for how well they could hug people, or if they could help around the house. This was clearly a place designed to test for more combat oriented subjects.

Though as you looked around, Lydia spoke up quite calmly. “This is where we met Viridian. I remember this exact space.” With this in mind, you’d heard a bit forward. And only a minute later, you saw the long and well-guarded hallway which you had explored with the drone, the office a short distance ahead of you. “Is this it? Are we here? If so, let’s go!” Laura said eagerly, seeming quite eager to have found the thing you were looking for. She’d already head a bit forward, before being stopped by Artyom. He put his hand on her shoulder and spoke calmly. “Hold on. Don’t just rush in like that. There are gun turrets there, as well as… god knows what else. Besides, there’s a lot to unpack here.” Artyom would look at you, clearly waiting for your orders. However, Lydia seemed a bit amused. “Geez, Arty, no need to be so worried. Viridian easily wandered through this place and was fine. Hell, our drone was perfectly fine going through this place. Besides, what could still be here that poses a danger to us?” Artyom seemed sceptical still, looking around a bit before calmly speaking his mind.
>>
“I am just saying that this place is giving me something of a bad feeling. Whoever this office area belonged to, they weren’t making subjects like you girls.” He’d look over your subject friends, as your men all seemed unsure what to think. "The fact this place has so many spots for guardsmen, as well as a chamber clearly dedicated to combat, I feel whoever stayed in this place is... not a normal scientist who will act in reasonable ways to unauthorized personel." Your men did seem to agree that this place was not like the other offices you had found and that being careful was maybe warranted. Then again, it did seem like the place was quite safe so far. You weren’t met with any immediate danger, so maybe there wasn’t much to worry about?

>What do you do next?

Suggestions/options:
>Explore the rest of the office first. Maybe Artyom’s concerns were warranted and there was something dangerous lurking around. Besides, maybe you’d find something else of note?
>Just head for the main office first. You really, really wanted to know what the hell you’d find there and who it belonged to. Besides, how dangerous could it truly be?
>Send in someone to quickly check for any traps or anything else of note. Artyom could probably spot anything dangerous right away. Hell, Oreas could even phase through walls to quickly see what was awaiting you in the office itself. (Write in who you’ll send in and what they’ll do.)
>Explore a different part of this area first. The combat area, the spaces designed for guardsmen, the few sites with actual subject creation tools, maybe they could tell you more about what this space was all about? (Write in what you’ll explore first.)
>Discuss with your men…
>Something else…

You are Kuroda Haruka and King Lot of Lothian and Orkney. You are also King of Camelot by right and claim! Of course, so far, shouldering this heady title has only resulted in lots of work, bizarre discoveries of how things work in Avalon, and the responsibility of fending off attacks from enemies.

Like the monstrous Wyvern, which had the temerity to eat two of your vassals!

Even if all the vassals are unruly Anarchists, rigid Nomenklatura, religious Fanatics, disloyal Pirates and other such odd characters... Going down that mental route is verboten for a King. You need as many Baphomets alive to enact your ultimate ambition of returning home with your identity restored!

The unnatural two headed creature lashes out with its long, poisonous stinger tail to disrupt your attack. Black smoking ichor beads at the end of the scorpion-like stinger, and the odd droplet sizzles as it drips on to the ground.

Perhaps attracting the attention of this thing wasn't the best idea...

Stats
Kuroda Haruka, 16 year old. A forgotten but genuine member of the Kuroda samurai clan.

Identity: King Lot of Lothian and Orkney

You are William Daylight. You almost beat the shit out of a random furry, survive getting disemboweled again, convince your landlord to take a bet in exchange for armor, trusted a librarian, finally made plans to look for a druggie, and made plans to jump some gangsters for a bakery girl’s knowledge. All in all a very eventful week of work and progress.

“Blood Contract. You basically get enslaved by my boss and me in exchange you get your armor and cape but I keep the demon stone as that will help fund the contract and other things.”
“Fucking trading one slaver for another?” States William with an annoyed tone.
“You follow our orders, you do not speak of me or the faction, do not share anything of our methods, some other faction requirements, and if ahhh, hmm, greater restoration or curse break is attempted on you the contract will immediately multiple disintegrate spells to destroy your body and prevent resurrection. That is the cost to get some of your stuff back.”
“And when does the contract end?”
“When you die.”
“This isn’t much of a choice.”
“This is a war no one has a say.”
“And what is stopping you from just ordering my death?”
“You're useful as three leaders are looking at you. That is something that could help us in the future.”

Pick one and add an argument for it.

>Attempt to argue for extra aid. (Like training, equipment, tips)
>Attempt to argue to take off specific parts. (Get back demon stone, and lifetime contract)

>Well I don't actually want the stone. I'm more scared of Hellscream realizing I don't have it. So... Anyway to uh fake a demon stone?

>That deal works for me but I need training. Or I'm going to be dead in less than 2 weeks. Due to Animus trying to test me.

>To show good faith I'll tell you what I know of both Animus and Prisma (spill the beans)

>If I told you I had something much stronger to defeat mages would there be anyway my blood contract could just be to you? I respect you. But I don't know your boss so I'm a bit leery of that... Is he a worthy master? Or am I just changing collars and whose holding onto my leash?

>I want to be able to free myself and the other Ords from the oppression that is the mages. And I really want to see Laura's face when I murder the Mutt that they have test me.

>I also don't want to kill innocents. Though 99.9999% of mages don't count as that. I'll happily kill gangsters, mages, monsters or anything else. But no kids or random ords. You seem like you and your group are frying bigger fish. The whole reason I didn't take the demon stone is because I don't want to lose my humanity. Though I do realize that I will have to get my hands dirty and there is always collateral damage. I just want to get strong enough that I can protect those I care about. And minimize the collateral damage as much as I can.

Depending on what she says.

>Refuse the blood contract.

Nah not going to trade one slavery for another. If it was don't talk and a few favors fine but life time service. That's thr deal breaker for me.
>>
Don't tell her about the armor, she can just take it and finish it with her faction.

All I have to say is take our lumps and hope we survive. Figure out a way then kill her entire faction when we're powerful enough for retaliation.
>>
>>5989056
She already knows our position if she wanted information she would have asked. She wants Domination because she doesn't know us and she has hot items.

Life time service to anyome was one of the things we were trying to avoid. I also see no reason why fighting for himself is inherently bad. Sure I do wish to fight for the people who support him but I dont see it being inherently right.

Lucian, once a peasant, has ascended the ranks to become a Grail Knight. Now he must return to Bretonnia, to the Duchy of Mousillon. There the threat of Vampirism, those under the Sway of Nagash, seek to send forth their terror upon Bretonnia.

++The Rules++
>Vote with Greentext, otherwise they probably won’t be accepted.
>Write-ins can be accepted, and might even be used in the final without majority rule.
>If you are going to change your vote, make it so your post only links to the numbers of the previous vote. It's cleaner that way.
>If you mix votes together without modifying them in any way, I reserve the right to employ your top most pick as your vote. Claiming it as a write-in won’t work either unless you modify it to convince me otherwise.
>The aim for rolls is low. Crits override (1’s overrides 100’s)

For the update schedule expect to be semi-daily with the chance I disappear for a week. If something comes up for myself I am placing that before this quest, so that should be kept in mind.

“We are at an impasse then.” Lucian declared, not bothering to reach for his weapon as he spoke, “I see that truth rings of deaf ears, but I understand that I have slighted the honor of another. Sir Gilrack, I do not wish to clash forces with your fleet if I can help it.”

“And I would not allow it for as long as I live.” Spoke his fellow Grail Knight as he kept his weapon held high.

“What I suggest to you is two options.” Spoke Lucian as he glanced at the people around him, “First is a Duel between us on open land. A true honor Duel between Knights of the Grail. Second, if you are willing to compromise, then I will talk directly to the Duke as long as my men are allowed to come onto shore.”

“You are asking me to allow a Foreign Army upon the blessed shores of Bretonnia!” The man rebutted as with a flair of disbelief, “A Grail Knight would never allow such a thing!”

“Yet I am a Grail Knight, drinking from the Grail on the Isles of Albion!” Lucian rebutted quickly, “Denying me has already stained both of our honors! Shall we fight this out in open battle in the Lands of Mann, or go where the Lady and Morr decides our fates!”

“The Lady shall decide and no others.” Confirmed Gilrack as he sheathed his sword, “There is an island we shall go to. There we shall decide the fate of this… folly!”

“Indeed we shall.” Decided Lucian as he glanced at the others, “Shall the Knight who holds truth have the Lady’s Favor.”

“For the gods know all.” Lucian answered him as Satharifax took to the sky, “Lead the way, Sir Gilrack!”
>>
A Grail Knight would carry no lie in his words, especially against another Grail Knight. The man’s ship had led the two fleets towards a single island that was near the shores of Bretonnia. There was not much on the island for underneath the thin topsoil was rocks that made up the anomaly on Bretonnian Shores. It sported an assortment of small flowers that would thrive in a place where few weeds would have been able to.

There a plethora of Knights and Albionians had assembled themselves. The ships of the two taking sides around the island to be witnessed, but many who were upon the vessels had already unloaded themselves to watch it.

In the Sky was Satharifax with no rider and the Pegasus Knights. Lucian had doubt that the Knights would launch themselves against him now for they were clearly Noble Bretonnians, but Lucian had also seen too much to ignore both Tee-Nee-Tyny and Satharifax’s suggestions about making sure they matched one another.

For Mounts they both were riding horses that were donated by the ranks of Knights. While it made sense that their leader, Gilrack, would acquire a beast quickly Lucian was given a plethora of choice for his part. While Bretonnians guard their horses selfishly, the honor of giving it to a Knight of the Grail on loan was too great an honor to pass.

The mare that Lucian rode now reminded him in a sense of Nightshade, but it had a few white spots on its skin. The beast was also one who came from the hills of Aquitaine, so Lucian found her more appropriate than any others. If the beast was of any quality Lucian did not know, but already Lucian could tell the horse was walking different when she was underneath him.

The magics of the Grail worked wonders both big and small it seemed.

In his hands was a Lance, on his back a scythe. A proper duel between Bretonnians was to the death, with the combatants being mounted on Horseback at the start equipped with both a lance and a weapon of this choice.

The fight ends when one is dead. A grave event for Bretonnia that two Grail Knights must fight one another, but if Lucian succeeded then he will assume control of both armies in all likelihood.

"In the myth, God is Force. In the parable, God is Motion. In the faith, God is the Spark, that which moves all life."
-22nd Hymn of the Omnissiah, Collected M34

A change of fortune diverts you from the cliffs, to a place you never expected to be - the heart of the Omnissiah's worship in Odrev. Once you arrive, though, you find it increasingly difficult to focus on what's literally before you.

You possess an amount of Strain equal to your Conditioning score. When attempting actions beyond your current capacity, you gain a point of Strain. Attempting to Strain while at maximum Strain will result in a Strain Check. During a Strain Check, roll 1d10 for every point of the relevant Parameter. Results that are 6 or above count as one success. Results of 10 count as two successes. Three successes must be rolled to avert a critical failure. Fail or pass, after a Strain Check, you cannot Strain again until you restore your Strain by seeking shelter.

This quest allows you to designate a second-choice vote on decisions with three or more options before Write-Ins. When votes are totaled, the option with the least votes for it will be removed, with votes for that option instead being changed to the second-choice of those voters. Second-choice votes are also used to break ties. This helps increase the accuracy of votes, but is not mandatory. Please specifically mark your second-choice as such if you do so.

Vote stay open for a minimum of six hours, but will usually take longer.

“...and it's the spirit that is the spark of life.”

Trisa-Cant-8 inclined her head. “Then you do know something of the mysteries."

“I do?” You'd spoken without realizing. The words had just sort of... slipped out. They'd just seemed obvious. Where had that thought come from?

“The Second Mystery?” Trisa-Cant-8 raised her hand. “The spirit is the spark of life. And before that, the First Mystery: ‘life is directed motion’, like I was talking about."

“What does that mean?”

“...I might not be the best person to ask that.” Trisa-Cant-8 folded her arms, seemingly thinking. “Theology is dear to me, but I'm no lector. I'd hate to give you the wrong idea and get reamed out by our old Forge Master later..."

“If life is directed motion...” Your eyes close briefly. “Then organic life and machinery is not so different, on a fundamental level. We're all directed motion. And the spirit is... the spirit of the machine, then? If that is true, then humanity must surely possess it's own spirit, yes?” You frown a little at that thought. Did that include you, then? Or were you a perversion?

Trisa-Cant-8 gave you a more considered look, but still smiled. “That's an advanced reading for someone who couldn't tell me who the Omnissiah was a minute ago. Where'd you hear that, anyway? I didn't think tankborn were given any spiritual knowledge.” She glances down at your work. “Left a bit.”

Your eyes lock onto a Printing Shop, they will let you have access to their PCs, if you have anything to print. No more self-evident observations, you wobble like a flightless bird to the store with curiosity clouding your judgment!

After an exchange of words with the clerk, you open up Briefy and hand over the USB Stick. He sticks it in the PC, and asks…

“Which file?” The Clerk asks nonchalantly.

“Which file what?” You play dumb so he has to show you the screen.

“Which file do you want me to print, dude?” The man doesn’t mind repeating himself as he turns the screen partially towards you. Years of dealing with the public killed any type of mild annoyance in his bones. “It’s all folders.”

“Uhm…” For some reason, you expected the USB Stick to be encrypted, this is a pleasant surprise. The coding system for the name doesn’t appear to be complex, but it’s meaningless to you. It’s written like [AB001] and stuff the like. “Can you let me browse the files myself?”

“Knock yourself out.” The man doesn’t mind as he steps out of the counter to organize other papers in the back.

You are Kai, a newly minted edgerunner trying to scrape by in Night City. Almost two weeks ago your father, an NCPD netrunner, was murdered under suspicious circumstances during a Cyberpsycho attack on Kabuki Marketplace. You’re out looking for answers. Answers and eddies. Eddies to pay for your several ill mother’s medical expenses, eddies for more gear, eddies for information, eddies for allies. Everything in Night City has a price, and everyone has secrets, especially your family. Dad was an Edgrerunner for decades in secret, and your Mom used to be a big corpo scientist for Biotechnica, running a whole genetic enhancement and cloning project you didn’t even know existed - or that you were a part of - until a few days ago. The only person you can fully trust is yourself… and perhaps Alice (Hlin), the ghostly AI that your netrunner father was working with in secret before they both got attacked on New Year’s Eve. The last couple of weeks have been busy with small jobs for the static Aldecaldo fixer Dakota, both solo and with other edgerunners, and right now you’re recovering from nearly getting flatlined trying to infiltrate a Raffen Shiv subnet. Ouch. You’re still one of the freshest faces around Night City's shadows for now, but all it takes to end that is a single bullet - This line of work is a meat grinder, and runners are the meat.

Night City (Kabuki, your apartment)

Sitting on your apartment’s worn old sofa, you munch on a plate of mind bendingly delicious cookies Vicky baked last night. Real chocolate, baked with care, still fresh enough to be almost gooey it is so soft but not crumbling apart… Maybe you did die during that last run, and this is heaven. Vicky is out handling some early morning biz, she just left a few minutes ago with a vest and her Metel, but you weren’t left alone in enjoying these wonderful baked goods.

You’re never alone anymore.

With every bite you take, Alice savors the flavors and textures as well, a second ghostly sensation radiating throughout your mind as you experience her pleasure at each bite as if it were your own. The cookies are twice as good in this strange gestalt state, and for once you really don’t mind it at all. There are benefits to existing spread between two minds it would seem, when you are acting in accord the intensity of your shared feeling and sensations is… fascinating, if a little worrying still. Your entanglement has deepened after your shared IC induced coma, but you’re determined to find a silver lining to this whole synchronization mess.

No, this isn't a "I'm okay with it but this is not the time". We're making boundaries, Alice may be best girl and has proven to be a helpful friend, but we need to untangle as hard as possible so Kai doesn't become her flesh puppet. Besides, we are in no condition to get JC Denton'd - any plans for fusion will need to wait.

You are Lorinda de Lindan, princess, weapon autist, and inquisitor-in-training. The last few days have been a whirlwind of violence and revelations after joining the neverending hunt for Strangers. Deadly beings from another dimension, each armed with a personal Cheat Skill that left unattended can cause catastrophic damage to both your kingdom and the world itself. If only you never stepped out of line at the Royal Mageknight Academy then you’d never have to enter under the watchful eyes of the Inquisition.

Currently, you’re on the hunt for a kidnapper in the northern city of Ivern along with your fellow inquisitor-in-training Marie Sarodieu, previously known as Midori Suzuki, by masquerading as helpless maidens. Both so you can help prevent more tragedy from befalling your loyal subjects and so you can acquire more information on the strange Metal Castle that appeared nearby not long ago.

Only time will tell if this endeavor proves fruitful.

Rather than comment on the obvious, he continues his abuse of marine life in the name of anti-pollution or something by tossing his battered Iron Thorn towards the second of the airborne Arrokuda.

Focusing entirely on position, the fish are kept well enough in range for the rest of your allies to attack. These Pokemon look mostly uninterested in battling, merely picking off the defenseless. To that end, a dark Braviary soars in towards the commotion from elsewhere...

Sagira is familiar with such violent combat on and within water, and doesn't devolve into a panicked mess when she impacts the surface of the ocean. She is, however, coughing violently from the brutal hit.

Last time, we took control of Val Lasombra as we learned of Gremory's past as the infamous Demon of Water that once terrorized Gaoth's lands with three other demons that were slain. We expanded our understanding of the world upon the reveal of Time and Space magic that Demons could wield through the counterelement of Mana called Soul, and went on a much-needed shopping spree that ended in The Flame of Arcadia undergoing some upgrades at the hand of the Shipwrights Guild that would render it inoperable until complete. Lobo relayed important information on a collection of reliable crewmen available for recruitment around Threespice, and the gang collected valuable blackmail information and loot from Stillwater's caches around the city. Lastly, they set out from the safety of the city to search for a group of independent Eldingarian engineers that were late for their arrival, only to find that they had been attacked by a group of Black Pirates that stranded them.

As we pick up our adventure again, the group is aboard the Skyseer, an intimidating and powerful Gaoth raidship run by Captain Jaghatai. They had negotiated peace with him, and convinced him to hunt down the pirate that felled Aito's ship nearby. As of the moment, the group is learning about the finer details of Gaoth culture, courtesy of Jaghatai's talkative and patriotic nature. For now, though...who will we be playing as this time around?

>Ramza Valentine. You're cocky, charming, and killer with a Mageblade.
>Val Lasombra. You're great with magic, but even better with a pistol. Not one for words, you think actions speak much louder.
>Gigas. You've yet to meet anyone that can best you physically, or resist your infectious cheer.

"Of course not. Altan came from common blood. He put his own family to the blade when they sought to use his power and wealth for their own gain, and he has placed several laws to inflict similar punishments upon any who attempt to do similarly with their own blood. Gaoth unites us, not blood. We prove our own worths, not suckling from another's like a parasite."

"How long has Altan ruled for?" Val asks.

"Uh..." Jaghatai takes a moment to glance down at his hands, various fingers coming up and down as he counts it out. "41 years as of this year, I believe. Yes, that's right, there was a celebration of his fourtieth year of rule last year. It was quite the time, a shame you missed it."

"A shame indeed. I'll have to attend the 50th in a few years, then." You say with a shrug. "But speaking of parties, what do you guys usually do after a victory? Surely you party as hard as you work."

"You undersell us, Captain Valentine. No people in the world party as hard as the Gaoth do. You'll see for yourself soon enough, once we eliminate this pirate we're hunting." Jaghatai turns to face the window once more. "Speaking of which, I am most curious about what you intend to do during this hunt. Insights into the tactical side of my peers are always a delight."

>You'll go out ahead of them on the Gleamrunner to grab the enemy's attention, so the Skyseer can blindside them.

We’re more maneuverable than the enemy is, yet too weak to chase them off. If their captain has a third the cleverness he’s supposed to then he’ll know we have a trick up our sleeves, but any option besides engaging us is stupid until he knows the details. He’d be a laughingstock if he ran from us alone.

So we can be sure to bite at him and encourage him to chase us. We can do the harpoon trick as our ship-based tactical act to throw off their broadside from the Skyseer, and if the enemy is still flying after the first hit from the Skyseer then we can both attempt a boarding action to capture the ship, its captain, and its spoils.

In the very unlikely event he runs early, work our way under his ship for a harpoon shot through the keel. I can’t imagine a flying ship taking that much better than a seaborne ship.

Welcome to Lingdom Quest, a cute and comfy slice-of-life quest about exploring the Lingdom, a kingdom of cute pygmies!

You are Rika, a 15-year-old Ling on a journey with your cousin Kari, friends Bubu and Puki, and fox friend Moochy. You are on your Youthful Journey, a custom among your people where you leave your home to travel across the Lingdom to visit relatives and friends in other villages to help out and learn new skills. The function of the Youthful Journey is also to reconnect you with your wider family and make pleasant Memories.

>What are Lings?
Pygmy humans with large, round ears who live in the Lingdom, a kingdom separated from the rest of the world and under the protection of the Emperor. The Emperor is known as a "Tallie", a human of normal height and normal-shaped and sized ears. Among your people are also "Halfies", individuals with both Ling and Tallie blood who appear like Lings in their childhood but enter a rapid growth spurt in their young adulthood.

>Where did Lings come from?
The Lings claimed to have once been hosted by the Great Turtle where they learned to be good guests. Much of their core values come from their time being the Great Turtle's guests;
>To be neat, tidy, and clean after themselves.
>To eat sparingly so as to not overburn their hosts.
>To reciprocate gifts so as to share Memories.

>Memories
Memories are something of a religious and spiritual concept for Lings. They represent literal memories that an individual holds but also represent their relationships as well as a connection to their wider family (their "people"). It helps bind them all as one people, not only throughout the land but also through time. Ways Lings share their Memories:
